Dr Sunil Kumar Daga is a Consultant Nephrologist and Transplant Physician at St James’s University Hospital, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds. He is an honorary scientific advisor for Kidney Research Yorkshire charity and an honorary medical advisor for South Asian Health Action charity. He is a committee member of Research and Clinical Trials at British Transplant Society, UK.
His research interests are data analytics and machine learning approaches to develop predictive models, effect of ethnicity on outcomes, novel diagnostic tools in assessment of antibodies in organ transplantations. His current (2020) h-index is 9.
He was a member of Living Transplant Initiative and co-led community projects to improve living kidney donation in South Asians. He had actively contributed in parliamentary committee for organ donation and strategy for organ donation in BAME. He supervised master project at NHS Digital and University of Manchester on a large dataset exploring effect of ethnicity on outcomes following living kidney donors in UK. He is currently working in collaboration with the Centre for Decision research, Leeds Institute of Health Sciences to explore decision making around living kidney donation in ethnic minority patients group.
He is also co-supervising project involving mathematical modelling at School of Engineering, University of Warwick in application to outcomes following antibody incompatible kidney transplantation. His other interests are application of novel diagnostic tools in risk stratification for antibody incompatible kidney transplantation.
He is actively supporting NIHR portfolio and commercial clinical trials as a principal and sub-investigator at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
