Dr Mathew, Vice President, said “I request you to join hands together and fight to the last. Victory in this case will assure justice for us and for our children”
BAPIO is represented by Karon Monaghan QC, one of the leading experts in human rights, equality and discrimination law. The hearing, scheduled for 8th to 10th April 2014, is a historic challenge against the differential pass rates for BME doctors in the MRCGP exams.
AN URGENT APPEAL FOR CONTRIBUTION TO THE LEGAL FUND
“Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.” ― Benjamin Franklin
The Judicial Review against GMC and RCGP is due to be heard between 8th and 10th April. However the required funds have not yet been generated. BAPIO has already spent nearly £80,000 that had been raised so far. We now urgently need to pay 105,000 to the Solicitors for the QC to start work on the hearing.
If BAPIO is unable to raise these funds, then the JR action may need to be withdrawn. The JR is legally sound and has a high chance of success, however this will not happen without funds.
We are thus requesting you to contribute urgently to the CSA fund. Each Executive Committee member of BAPIO has paid in £1000 into the fund.
This is a landmark case which looks at the very basis of institutional discrimination and it will be a shame for it to fail for lack of funds.
“There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice,
But there must never be a time when we fail to protest.” ― Elie Wiesel
