BAPIO Kings Lynn and QEH Educational Event: A resounding Success!

The BAPIO Kings Lynn Educational Event, held on 7 September 2024 at QEH Kings Lynn, was a resounding success, attracting healthcare professionals from across the region for an engaging and informative day. There was interesting discussion on varied subjects including academic, managerial as well as leadership issues.

Expert speakers included Dr. Rudolf Duehmke on Heart Failure Management, Dr. Fatema Azad on Learning from Primary Care Experiences, Dr. Boyana Pedersen on Atopic Dermatitis Management, Dr. Andrew Beynon-Phillips on Overview of Balance, Dizziness, Vertigo, and Sudden Onset of Hearing Loss and Dr. Mandeep Sira on The Moral and Ethical Implications of Prescribing Statins for the Individual Patient vs. the Population in Primary Prevention. All the speakers delivered insightful presentations that enriched the participants’ knowledge and increased awareness about referral pathways for primary care colleagues. These sessions highlighted practical approaches to improving patient outcomes through timely and appropriate referrals, bridging gaps between primary and secondary care.

The event also featured a compelling panel discussion on Supporting the IMG Workforce, chaired by Mr. Siya Sharma with key contributions from Ms. Alice Webster, CEO, Dr. Rebecca Martin, Medical Director, Dr. Raj Shekhar, Director of Medical Education at QEH Kings Lynn: and Dr. Ramesh Mehta, President of BAPIO.

Dr. Mehta shared his own experiences through a talk on Discrimination and Cracking the Glass Ceiling – My Story!, offering valuable insights into the evolving landscape of healthcare and the importance of a skilled and diverse workforce in NHS.

Ms Webster and Dr. Martin interacted with delegates, actively engaging with them to understand their perspectives and challenges in clinical practice. This interaction underscored the event’s commitment to fostering open dialogue and collaboration among healthcare professionals from primary and secondary care.

Delegates appreciated the opportunity to network, learn from seasoned practitioners, and participate in discussions that emphasized the significance of continuous education, mutual support, and shared learning in advancing patient care.
