Following the launch of the ChangeNHS questionnaire by HM Government and NHS England in October 2024, BAPIO has submitted its organisation response to the survey. BAPIO had written to all its members inviting them to submit to BAPIO the ideas they wished to see incorporated in BAPIO’s response and BAPIO has reflected as many of these as possible in its final submission.
In its response, BAPIO included specific initiatives that it would like to see incorporated in the 10 Year Health Plan including restructuring decision making in hospitals, enhancing medical training, improving workforce wellbeing, reducing discrimination and increasing recognition of the contribution ethnic minority staff and IMGs make to the NHS. BAPIO also provided its views on policy ideas that it felt should be implemented in the NHS over the near, medium and long term. Finally, BAPIO shared its perspectives on the challenges and enablers related to moving care from hospitals to the community, making better use of technology in healthcare and better addressing the causes of ill health.
