Professor Prokar Dasgupta FKC, Foundation Professor of Surgery, King’s Health Partners and Chair in Robotic Surgery and Urological Innovation, King’s College London was awarded an OBE in the historic King’s first Birthday Honours list following his coronation, for services to Surgery and Science.
Last year Prokar, a BAPIO member, was also recognised with a Padma Shri by President Kovind of India in Darbar Hall, Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi for his contributions to Medicine.
His other distinctions include the Harold Hopkins Golden Telescope, the St. Peter’s Medal, Fellowship of King’s College, The Wickham Medal for Lifetime achievement, membership of the elite American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons, Academic Association of European Urologists and the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand. He is also the King James IV Professor of Surgery having delivered this distinguished lecture at the Royal Institution made famous by Michael Faraday.
