Professor Geeta Menon FRCS, FRCOphth, FRCP

Professor Geeta Menon is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. Besides high-volume cataract surgery, she has developed a major interest in novel treatments for AMD. She designed and established a Mobile Macular Unit, the first of its kind in the country and has won various awards including ‘Building Better Healthcare Awards’.

She was appointed Postgraduate Dean for South London in 2018.
She is the Clinical Director for Kent, Surrey and Sussex Clinical Research Network. She has been Chief Investigator for 6 and Principal Investigator for over 70 trials. She has published in many high impact journals and successfully obtained grant funding of over 3 million in the last five years. The National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) awarded her for ‘outstanding contribution to research.”

In 2016 she was awarded the joint Royal College of Physicians (RCP) and NIHR award for
‘Outstanding Research Leadership in the NHS’.

In 2016 she was awarded the Gold Clinical Excellence award for contributions to the NHS over and above routine clinical practice.

Under the VISION 2020 links programme she set up Diabetic Retinopathy Screening (DRS) in Zambia. She was awarded the prestigious Excellence in Patient Care Award by the Royal College of Physicians for outstanding clinical activity that contributes to excellent patient care overseas in 2017.
